Growing up Samantha always loved the water. She started
splashing around at the health club in her NYC apartment where she
grew up. Following in her older sisters footsteps, Samantha
began swimming for the NYC Marlins at the age of 5.
Samantha’s coach described her as a natural and at the age of
6 she began qualifying for championship meets. At the
age of 7, she won the 8 and Under Championships and was honored
with the “High Point Award”. Samantha’s
competitive nature inspired her to set high swimming standards for
herself. She consistently qualified for nationwide meets such at
the YMCA Nationals and the local Junior Olympics. She held
one of the top three spots in USA Metro Swimming. Samantha
eventually became team captain and was awarded MVP. During
Samantha’s senior year in high school she was awarded a
scholarship to Notre Dame College. She swam at the collegiate
level her freshman year. After relocating to the west coast
she secured a coaching position with the YMCA of Orange
County. There she helped create a Stroke Clinic and Dry Land
Program for higher level swimming as well as a more competitive
swim program. Samantha will be completing her degree
program at CSULB in the Spring of 2013.
Samantha became a member of the AAA coaching staff in December
2011. As a coach for the Red group at the Canyon Pool,
Samantha takes pride in her swimmers accomplishments and looks
forward to helping them attain their future goals.
