Coach Barbie Regan

Coach Barbie Regan is a native of Orange County and began as a competitive swimmer at very early age with a local Phillips 66 swim team, swimming competitively throughout high school. She swam with the renowned Shirley Babashoff (she boasts).

After her competitive years, Coach Barbie has been active in several professional organizations in the aquatic field for over 35 years.  Her experiences include researching, developing, teaching, coaching, mentoring, funding, and supervising all aspects of an aquatic environment.

Barbie strongly believes that good work ethics and consistency produce results, as well as positive reinforcement from peers and subordinates encourage personal character building and affirmative life skills. She also impresses on swimmers that it is the “little” things that create the biggest change. In addition, it is important for the love of swimming to create lasting relationships and have fun chasing that black line.

As an aquatic trainer with the American Red Cross and previously also with the YMCA aquatic programming, she comes to us with an extensive background as a technical coach.  She has had the opportunity to run two successful USS teams (NOCY & OCAT) as their head coach, and has served as the girl’s varsity coach for El Dorado high school before taking leave to pursue her Masters degree in Recreation Management.

She is comfortable with the novice swimmer as she is with the seasoned national level swimmers. The only thing missing in Barbie’s life is her gills (she says she’s been around water so much she should have been a fish!).  Barbie is a mother of three, (two competitive swimmers and one diver) and has just recently become a grandmother. She collects anything fish, hates to hear “I can’t,” doesn’t like her picture taken and loves the color Red and the number 3.
